Following the successful Lent Course on Zoom, we will be hosting a ‘Summer Course’.

This is a lovely way to catch up with other people (without masks on!).

It will include a short presentation from the Rector, Revd Jules Beauchamp, looking at some selected passages from 1 Corinthians 12-14, and time for group discussion.

For information about how to join on Zoom, please contact Rosie by email on or by phone on 01244 332484.

Evensong today!

The funeral of His Royal Highness, Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, will take place at St George’s Chapel, Windsor at 3:00 pm on Saturday, 17th April.

In recognition of this, there will be a short service of Evening Prayer, according to the Book of Common Prayer, with prayers for the Duke and the Royal Family. This will take place at St John’s in Aldford, at 6:00 pm on Friday 16th (today!)

Following the sad announcement of the death of HRH the Duke of Edinburgh on Friday, the church bell in Aldford will be sounded at 12 noon on Saturday 10th April.

There will be a short commemorative service at St John’s, Aldford on Sunday 11th April at 10:15 am.

During the following week the church in Aldford will be open for private prayer as normal; there will be a table at the front of the church with a picture of the Duke of Edinburgh and some suggested prayers.

In line with current guidance there will not be a Book of Condolences in church, and those who wish to do so are encouraged to use the on-line Book of Condolences here .

More widely Chester Cathedral has announced it will host a service of thanksgiving on Sunday at 3.30pm. This will be available here.

The order of service will also be available to download from that site.

Once the date and time of the funeral have been finalised, we will plan a short service of prayer at 6:00pm on the evening before the service. More information will be posted in due course.

On the day of the funeral the Church bell in Adlford will be sounded shortly before the funeral services begins, and people will be encouraged to join the national period of silence at the end.
